The average home contains 100 pounds of chemicals, according to the EPA. Mon Valley residents can rid their homes of unwanted chemicals by recycling paints, pesticides, cleaners, auto fluids, batteries, and more on Saturday June 21, at a PRC collection in Elizabeth. Each household can recycle 10 gallons or 50 pounds of chemicals for free; additional quantities accepted for a small fee.
First residents can learn how to store, prepare for a collection event, and reduce household chemical waste at a FREE workshop on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, in Clairton.
Both are generously supported by the Pittsburgh Foundation.
