We have some exciting news...
As part of our ongoing effort to improve the quality of life for Plymouth Township residents, we have created a program regulating transient solicitation (door-to-door sales).
The program includes a requirement for all companies that wish to solicit in the township to register with our zoning inspector. Each registration is limited to a 90-day period, at which time they must re-register if they wish to continue.
Companies may only solicit between 9 am and 5 pm and must provide photo identification for each individual canvassing on their behalf. Their representative must wear a lanyard displaying their full name and photo ID, and they must carry a copy of the current 90-day permit under which they are operating. Residents are entitled to view these documents at any time.
The program includes a no-solicitation list which prevents solicitors from visiting included addresses. This list will be provided to each company at the time of permit registration. To be added to the no-soliciting list, simply email the zoning inspector at RyanLencL@gmail.com.
The township has also purchased no-soliciting stickers that residents can place on their mailboxes or storm doors. The stickers are available for pick up at the firehall (1001 Plymouth Road) between 7 am and 5 pm daily. They can also be picked up at 6:30 pm prior to any scheduled trustee meeting. Any home displaying this sticker is off-limits, whether they have signed up for the no-soliciting list, or not.
As we roll out this important program, we will be looking for your feedback. The township encourages residents to request and document (via cell phone) ID and permit verification of all solicitors. Companies who violate the policy will face fines, permit suspension, and trespassing charges.
