Description
πΏ KEEP GRASS CLIPPINGS OUT OF OUR CANALS! πΏ
Please do not blow, sweep, or dump grass clippings into the canal.
If you use a lawn maintenance company, please make sure they know this rule. Property owners are responsible for any items their lawn maintenance company blows, sweeps, or dumps into the canal.
Grass clippings are just one of many items prohibited under City Ordinance Sec. 06.03.01 β Unlawful Items.
The ordinance prohibits residents, visitors, and contractors from causing or allowing items to enter or be placed or stored in a manner that winds or tides can carry them into any canal or waterway within the City of Bayou Vista.
π« PROHIBITED ITEMS INCLUDE:
β’ Grass clippings, limbs, branches, leaves, blooms, and other tree, shrub, or lawn cuttings
β’ Building materials, including wood, siding, drywall, carpet, insulation, nails, wiring, concrete, brick, pipe, and glass
β’ Plastic, Styrofoam, and paper products
β’ Cigarette or cigar butts, wrappers, and lighters
β’ Human or animal feces
β’ Clothing, furniture, and trash of any kind
β’ Food scraps
β’ Cans, bottles, and containers
β’ Crab trap floats or markers
β’ Gasoline, diesel, grease, oil, paint, varnish, and other household or industrial chemicals
β’ Dead fish or crabs, with limited exceptions for certain remains from species normally found in local canals
Our canals are an important part of what makes Bayou Vista special. Please help keep them clean, safe, and free of debris.
When mowing your lawn, please blow grass clippings away from the canal and back onto your yard.
Thank you for helping keep Bayou Vista beautiful! πΏπ
