Special Weather Statement issued September 30 at 6:32PM CDT by NWS San Angelo TX
At 632 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Merkel, moving northeast at 25 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Abilene, Merkel, Tye, Hawley, View, Caps, Hamby, Dyess Afb, Impact,
Hodges, Lake Fort Phantom Hill, and Stith.
This includes Interstate 20 between Mile Markers 265 and 294.
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT for
west central Texas.
