The National Weather Service Pittsburgh is advising residents to remain alert as strong thunderstorms and heavy rainfall move through our area this afternoon and evening. A Flood Watch remains in effect through late tonight, and storms may produce damaging winds, heavy downpours and localized flooding.
⚠️ Please keep these safety reminders in mind:
🌧️ Never drive through standing or flooded water. Even if the water appears shallow, road conditions underneath may be unsafe. Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
🌳 Be alert for downed trees, branches and debris in roadways.
⚡ Stay away from downed power lines. Always assume a downed line is energized and dangerous. Never attempt to move or drive over it.
🚗 If you must travel, slow down, use caution and allow extra distance between vehicles. Visibility can decrease quickly during heavy rain.
🏠 During strong storms, seek shelter indoors and stay away from windows.
