* Until 1100 AM EDT/1000 AM CDT/.
* At 857 AM EDT/757 AM CDT/, widespread showers and storms were
located across the northern Gulf and Apalachee Bay. These
individual storms, capable of 25 to 35 knot wind gusts and
possibly waterspouts, were moving northeast at 15 knots.
HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Waterspouts can quickly form and capsize boats...damage
vessels...and create suddenly higher waves. Make sure all
on board are in a secure location and wearing life
jackets. Expect wind gusts in excess of 34
knots...suddenly higher waves...frequent lightning...and
heavy downpours. Make sure all on board are wearing life
jackets.
* Locations impacted include...
Buckeye Reef, O Tower, S Tower, Empire Mica Wreck, Cape San Blas,
St George Island, K Tower, Port St. Joe, V Tower, Horseshoe Beach,
Apalachicola, C Tower, Marker 24 Barge, and Mexico Beach.
Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily
overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor
immediately.
