Extreme Heat Warning issued August 24 at 1:30PM CDT until August 25 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Fort Worth TX
* WHAT...For Monday, Dangerously hot conditions with temperature
values up to 111 expected. For Tuesday, dangerously hot conditions
with temperature values up to 107 expected.
* WHERE...Portions of North Texas and Western Central Texas.
* WHEN...Until 9 PM CDT Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the
potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those
working or participating in outdoor activities.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Hot and dry conditions are increasing the risk
of wildfires! Extreme care is urged during all outside activities
where there is a potential for fires to get started.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and
pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended
vehicles.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest
breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
