Description
York County has recently trapped mosquitos that tested positive for West Nile virus in several municipalities, including Spring Garden.
What you can do to stay safe:
*Stay indoors during peak mosquito hours - Dusk to Dawn (note that it is getting darker later)
*Wear long sleeves, pants, and closed-toed shoes if possible.
*Exposed skin may be at risk for biting mosquitoes - Wear bug repellent
*Specifically bug repellent containing at least 30% DEET or another EPA approved active ingredient
*Remove all the standing water from your property - Birdbaths, wheelbarrows, buckets, tires, unused flower pots and children’s toys can hold water and breed mosquitoes.
Please see the attached guide and visit PA's Mosquito-borne Disease Control Program page for additions measures you can take to keep you and your family safe.
