Description
We had a great City Council Meeting last night. Thank you to the many concerned citizens who attended and participated in the discussion.

Hurricane Preparedness Seminar

Mayor Pro Tem Vicki Lumb and the Emergency Management Committee have organized an outstanding lineup of speakers for this Saturday's Hurricane Preparedness Seminar.

Saturday, August 1
9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
MUD 12 Building

Following the presentations, there will be an additional hour for questions and discussion.
Immediately afterward, attendees are invited to stay for a hands-on CPR demonstration. While this is not a certification class, you'll learn the basics of this lifesaving skill.

Save the Dates

Budget Workshops

City Council is beginning the annual budget process for the upcoming fiscal year. Your input is important, and we encourage everyone to attend.

Police Department

Our Police Department now has two patrol vehicles equipped with moving radar. This technology allows officers to monitor vehicle speeds while their patrol vehicles are in motion, providing greater flexibility in enforcing traffic laws and improving public safety.

Summer Festival Golf Tournament

Congratulations to everyone involved in this year's Summer Festival Golf Tournament! Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, donors, and participants, $7,000 was donated to the Ronald McDonald House and $7,000 to the Bayou Vista Volunteer Fire Department.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success.

Council Actions

The following ordinances were approved. Please read the complete ordinances for full details.

• Contractors must now provide proof of the required insurance coverage before a building permit can be issued.

• Bulkhead regulations now allow property owners to increase an existing bulkhead's maximum height by up to six inches.

• Eight-liner and other similar gambling devices are now prohibited within the City of Bayou Vista.

• Itinerant vendors are now required to register and obtain a permit before conducting any peddling, soliciting, or vending activities. These regulations also reinforce protections against unwanted solicitation. Please note: Even if a vendor is properly permitted, residents may still prohibit solicitation on their property by posting appropriate signage.

City Park

After considerable discussion, City Council determined that a new ordinance banning dogs from the City Park is not necessary.

Dogs will continue to be welcome in the park provided they:
• Remain on a leash.
• Are under the control of their handler.
• Have their waste promptly picked up and properly disposed of in the designated receptacles.

926 Bonita Option Period:

Third party inspection report has been received. No major issues.
Termite report shows no active termites.
Survey and elevation certificate were completed, yesterday.
Appraisal is being ordered today. City will be meeting with the design team next week.

Thank you for staying engaged and involved in our community. Together, we continue working to keep Bayou Vista a safe, welcoming, and great place to call home.
