Description
Borough electric crews have identified the issue as a blown cutout in the West 9th and West 10th Avenue area. Crews are working to complete repairs and restore service as safely and quickly as possible. While the exact cause will be reviewed, this issue is likely related to the sustained high temperatures and increased electric demand in that area.
We are strongly urging residents in the West 9th, West 10th, and nearby affected areas to reduce electric usage where possible to help prevent another issue while temperatures remain high.
Residents can help by:
• Raising air conditioner thermostats a few degrees
• Turning off unnecessary lights
• Avoiding use of washers, dryers, dishwashers, and other high-use appliances
• Closing blinds or curtains to keep homes cooler
• Unplugging chargers, electronics, and small appliances not in use
• Waiting until later in the evening to use larger appliances, if possible.
As previously noted, the Borough will review the electric setup in this area with our engineer to determine whether long-term system improvements are needed or whether this was an isolated incident related to the extended high temperatures.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
