Description
Borough electric crews have been dispatched to investigate and repair the power outage affecting the West 9th and West 10th Avenue areas near East Street. At this time, we anticipate repairs may take a few hours to complete. Crews will work to restore service as safely and quickly as possible.
Due to the high temperatures, Highland Hose Fire Company at 401 East Eighth Avenue has been opened as a cooling station for residents impacted by the outage. Water will be available, and anyone affected by the outage is welcome to go there if needed.
We are also strongly urging residents to reduce electric consumption where possible, especially during this period of extreme heat. Reducing usage can help limit strain on the system while crews work.
Residents can help by:
• Raising air conditioner thermostats a few degrees
• Turning off unnecessary lights
• Avoiding use of large appliances such as washers, dryers, and dishwashers
• Closing blinds or curtains to keep homes cooler
• Unplugging chargers, electronics, and small appliances not in use
• Waiting until later in the evening to run high-use appliances, if possible
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as crews work to restore service.
