Description
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that high-friction resurfacing operations will begin Tuesday on eight state highways in Bucks, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.
Motorists are advised of lane closures with flagging on one or more of the following state highways:
•Tuesday, June 9, through Friday, June 19, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Saturdays, on Old Forty Foot Road between Ashland Drive and Quarry Road in Skippack and Towamencin townships, Montgomery County.
•Thursday, June 11, through Friday, June 19, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Saturdays, on Almshouse Road between Birdie Lane and Pennsbury Drive in Doylestown and Warwick townships, Bucks County.
•Friday, June 12, through Tuesday, June 23, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Mondays through Saturdays, on Rushland Road between Zachary Lane and Walton Road in Warwick Township, Bucks County.
•Friday, June 12, through Wednesday, June 24, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Mondays through Saturdays, on Bustleton Pike between Lower Holland Road and Anthony Drive in Northampton Township, Bucks County.
•Monday, June 15, through Friday, June 26, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Mondays through Saturdays, on State Road between Maria Circle and Federal Street in Bensalem Township, Bucks County.
•Monday, June 15, through Friday, June 26, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, weekdays on westbound Route 13 (Hunting Park Avenue) between Clearfield Street and Ridge Avenue in Philadelphia.
•Monday, June 15, through Monday, June 29, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Mondays through Saturdays, on Bethlehem Pike between Meadowbrook Lane and Brookside Road in Springfield Township, Montgomery County.
•Monday, June 15, through Friday, July 3, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Mondays through Saturdays, on Fitzwatertown Road between Rossiter Avenue and York Road in Abington Township, Montgomery County
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
This work is part of a $2.7 million project to install High-Friction Surface Treatment (HFST) on several state highways across Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties, to provide increased friction and grip on pavements in wet and dry conditions.
Truesdell Corporation of Hazleton, Pa., is the general contractor on this project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
