Description
The Hutchins Police Department has recently become aware of reports involving scammers posing as law enforcement officers and claiming citizens have outstanding warrants that can be cleared by making an immediate payment.
How the scam works:
The caller claims to be with the Hutchins Police Department or another law enforcement agency.
They may tell you that you have a warrant, missed jury duty, or failed to comply with a court order.
They pressure you to stay on the phone and instruct you not to contact anyone else.
They demand payment through gift cards, payment apps, cryptocurrency, prepaid cards, or other electronic methods.
Remember:
✅ The Hutchins Police Department will never request payment over the phone to clear a warrant.
✅ Legitimate law enforcement agencies do not accept gift cards, Bitcoin, or payment apps to resolve legal matters.
✅ If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately and contact the agency directly using a verified phone number.
If you believe you have been targeted by this scam, report it to your local law enforcement agency.
Please share this information to help protect your friends, family, and neighbors from becoming victims.
