Description
To clear up any confusion, the Joe Mims Summer Festival BBQ Cookoff is still scheduled for this weekend. We will continue to monitor the weather closely and reserve the right to cancel if dangerous conditions arise. Any updates will be shared on Savvy Citizen as the week progresses.
Our cook teams, vendors, and judges are committed, and this year we are placing a special emphasis on welcoming first‑time cookers. If you’ve ever thought about entering a cookoff, this is the perfect event to jump in. We would love to see new faces and new flavors in the field. The categories are Steak and Fajitas on Friday, and Chicken, Ribs and Brisket on Saturday.
If you’re interested in participating, please contact Phillip Sukal at this number (409) 549-4815.
Other events including vendors and raffles remain on the schedule, and we appreciate everyone’s support in helping us continue the long‑standing tradition of the Joe Mims Summer Festival, including the BBQ Cookoff and the many events that make it special.
