Description
In an effort to support local businesses, at their May 14, 2026 meeting, Ligonier Borough Council approved a holiday on regulations regarding merchant displays and merchant sales within the C1 and C2 Districts as follows:

-Effective Saturdays, from May 16-October 3, 2026
-Merchants may display and sell items outside of their businesses
-Displays and sales activities must be kept within 30" from the front of the building, nor encroach on public
Right-of-Ways, or impede pedestrian traffic
-Except for local restaurants selling food outside of their establishments, merchants, nor vendors invited to partner with local merchants, may not sale consumable food or alcohol

This is consistent with action taken at the April meeting, when Ligonier Borough Council approved a holiday on regulations pertaining to temporary signage. During the same time period, merchants need not seek approval for temporary signs - so long as their placement is not in the public Right of Ways, is not affixed to publicly owned devices (street lights, utility poles, sign poles, etc.) and they do not impede pedestrian traffic.
