Description
Bayou Vista is such a lovely place to live, and it’s all thanks to our consistent property maintenance efforts!
Great news! The City Council approved an Ordinance at our Regular Meeting on July 29, 2025, which will allow the Building Inspector to also handle Code Enforcement duties alongside his Building Inspector responsibilities. This is especially important as we’re experiencing some turnover in the position, so this ordinance hasn’t been fully implemented yet.
The Ordinance outlines which codes—like property maintenance, public health, and safety—will now be the Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Inspector’s responsibility.
We’re reaching out to the Community to let you know about this new combination of duties so you know which Department can help you. Also, we want to remind you that Code Enforcement will be a key part of living in Bayou Vista.
With Hurricane Season just around the corner, now’s the perfect time to take a look at your property and remove any items that aren’t only unsightly but could cause serious damage to your neighbors’ homes and our canals if swept away by a storm surge.
If you know an elderly or disabled neighbor who could use some help with their property maintenance, please don’t hesitate to call City Hall at 409-935-8348, and we’ll organize a crew to assist them. If you’re interested in helping out, please call City Hall today, and we’ll add you to our list of volunteers.
We appreciate your cooperation and partnership with “Keeping Bayou Vista Beautiful,” as it’s truly everyone’s responsibility!
Sincerely,
Danny Rambin Mayor
and City Council of Bayou Vista
