Description
The Plymouth Township Road Department is a two-man crew consisting of Road Superintendent Todd Graf, and Road Maintenance Worker Josh Tuttle.
Todd started with the road department in 2013, and became Road Superintendent in 2019. Josh joined the department that same year.
Together, they repair and maintain all 30 miles of roads and 60 miles of ditches in the township. This includes grading, patching & sealing, berming, plowing & sanding, maintaining proper drainage to prevent flooding, sign repair & replacement, and roadside trash and tree removal.
Todd and Josh also maintain Maple Grove Cemetery, including handling the burials, showing and selling graves, and digging & pouring concrete footers for headstones.
They add additional value and save taxpayer dollars by maintaining most of the road department equipment in-house. This includes essential maintenance like oil changes and brake replacement, but also more complex repairs that have saved tens of thousands of dollars over the years. In one instance, a recent tractor repair was quoted at nearly $5000. Todd and Josh were able to make the repair in-house for around $1,500.
A few interesting facts about our road department:
✅Todd was previously a union bricklayer for 20 years
✅There are enough ditches in Plymouth Township to stretch from Ashtabula to Cleveland
✅100% of the road department's salaries and benefits are provided by road levies
✅On average 10 people are buried in Maple Grove Cemetery each year
If you have questions or need assistance, you can reach Todd or Josh at the township garage at (440) 997-3821.
