Description
Dear Residents,
I would like to provide an update following a meeting held yesterday with representatives from Vitro and Air Products regarding the ongoing noise concerns.
The meeting was productive and included a review of the sound study results. Findings indicate that when the machine is not in operation, ambient noise levels measured approximately 45 dB. When the machine is running, noise levels increased to the mid-to-upper 50 dB range. The sound study consultants noted that an increase of 10 dB is generally perceived as twice as loud, reinforcing that there is a consistent and measurable impact in the surrounding neighborhood.
While this confirms what many residents have already experienced, we now have objective data to support those concerns.
Air Products and Vitro are currently evaluating and designing a solution to address the issue. The proposed plan is expected to include the installation of four silencers along with additional insulation to help mitigate the noise.
At this time, a project timeline has not yet been established. However, a public meeting will be scheduled once more definitive details, including dates and implementation plans, are finalized.
The Greenwood Township Supervisors would like to sincerely thank you for your continued patience and understanding. We recognize the impact this situation has had and respectfully ask for your continued grace as we work collaboratively toward a resolution.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Kurt Dennis
Supervisor
