Per the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh -- It’s shaping up to be an active weather day across the region, so keep an eye on the sky and stay weather-aware. ⛈️

This Afternoon:
A chance of rain and thunderstorms will develop, with rain and possible thunderstorms becoming more likely after 4 PM. Some storms may become strong to severe, particularly during the afternoon hours.

🚨 Weather Alert
A Tornado Watch is in effect until 8:00 PM EDT for Allegheny County, Washington County, and Westmoreland County. While damaging wind gusts are the primary concern, isolated tornadoes are possible.

Tonight:
Showers and possible thunderstorms before midnight, then showers likely overnight. Some storms could remain strong to severe early in the evening.

🌊 Flood Watch Information
Heavy rain may also create excessive runoff, which could lead to flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying or flood-prone areas. Flooding may also occur in urban areas and locations with poor drainage.

⚠️ Safety Reminders:
~ Secure loose outdoor items.
~ Stay alert for changing weather conditions this afternoon and evening.
~ Have a way to receive weather alerts if warnings are issued.
~ Never drive through flooded roadways. Just a few inches of moving water can sweep a vehicle away.
~ Turn Around, Don’t Drown. If you cannot see the road beneath the water, do not attempt to cross.
~ Be especially cautious at low-lying roads, underpasses, and near creeks and streams.
~ Allow extra travel time and watch for ponding water and debris on roads during heavy rainfall.
