Description
If an animal poses an immediate threat of harm to you or someone else, do not hesitate:
Call 911 immediately.
When speaking with the emergency dispatcher, remain calm as possible and be prepared to provide the following details:
• LOCATION: The exact address or the direction the animal is traveling.
• ANIMAL’S ACTION: Describe what the animal is doing that is vicious or aggressive. (snarling, snapping, biting, chasing, etc.)
• DESCRIPTION: The animal type/ breed, size and coat colors/ markings.
• SAFETY STATUS: Details of any injuries sustained by you or others.
• OWNER INFORMATION: If known, provide the owner’s name and address.
Non-Emergency: At Large or Persistent Issues
If an animal is not an immediate threat but needs to be reported:
• ACTION: Call Galveston County Animal Control directly at 409-948-2485
• NOTE: Be prepared to provide the same descriptive details as above.
