Description
Here’s what’s happening at City Hall:
🚔 **Police Vehicles** – We will soon begin accepting bids on the two black & white patrol vehicles (February agenda item). This is a cost-saving move for maintenance and insurance.
🌳 **Redfish Lot Gazebo** – Plans are underway to build a gazebo using donated funds and labor. Electrical and lighting are also being routed to the relocated structure at the Redfish lot.
⚖️ **Municipal Court Updates**
• We will swear in our new Municipal Judge at the next regular council meeting. PLEASE JOIN US 02/24/26
• Officially swore in the lieutenant and full time police officers at the January meeting
• One or more officers will attend bailiff training.
• A metal-detecting wand will be purchased to enhance court security.
🛣️ **I-45 Expansion Update** – A representative from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will attend an upcoming council meeting to provide updates.
📊 **City Audit** – We are meeting with our financial auditors on February 17. They will also present their findings to Council at a regularly scheduled meeting.
🏖️ **Palapa Project** – Alderman Sukal has generously donated the electrical work for the recently relocated palapa. We are currently accepting bids to pour a concrete slab underneath it.
Thank you to MUD #12 for donating the palapa to the City!
🚒 **Community Events**
• BVVFD “Boots Backing Boots” Fundraiser – March 14 at 6:00 PM
• Faith Community Church Easter Egg Hunt – April 4 at 11:00 AM
The City will also host a sponsored event at the park in conjunction with their activities.
🚧 **Road Repairs** – Road work has resumed. Please be patient and cautious around recent road cuts.
🏗️ **Building Inspector Position** – Applications have been received, and the review process is underway.
• Phase one of the drainage project culvert clean out is complete.
• Formed a crew to be on standby in the event of issues caused by the winter storm
• Had warming centers on standby at the community center & MUD Bldg in the event of power outages
