Description
Extreme Cold Watch issued January 21 at 12:25PM CST until January 26 at 12:00PM CST by NWS San Angelo TX
* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 10 below zero
possible.
* WHERE...All of West Central Texas.
* WHEN...From Saturday afternoon through Monday morning.
* IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 10 below zero could
result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Frostbite and
hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these
temperatures. An extended period of freezing temperatures could
cause ruptured water pipes.
An Extreme Cold Watch means that prolonged periods of very cold
temperatures are expected.
Wear protective clothing such as a hat, face mask and heavy gloves
or mittens if you have plans to be outdoors. To prevent freezing and
possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped,
drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground
sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to
protect them from freezing.
