Lake Effect Snow Warning issued December 31 at 10:08AM EST until January 1 at 7:00PM EST by NWS Cleveland OH
* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations
between 8 and 15 inches with isolated higher amounts in excess of
20 inches across higher terrain of southern Erie County. Winds
gusting as high as 35 mph.
* WHERE...Crawford, Northern Erie, and Southern Erie Counties.
* WHEN...Until 7 PM EST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The
hazardous conditions will impact holiday travel.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The heaviest lake effect snow will persist
near the lakeshore through this morning. Another period of heavy
lake effect snow will arrive this afternoon and overnight,
impacting the entire area. Snowfall rates may reach 1 to 2 inches
per hour at times this evening.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania
