The following positions will be placed on the May 2, 2026 General Election ballot
Mayor Full Term through May 2028
Alderman, Position 1 Full Term through May 2028
Alderman, Position 5 Full Term through May 2028
Alderman, Position 4 Extend Term to May 2027
Wednesday January 14, 2026 First day to file for a place on the general election ballot. Election Packets may be picked up at City Hall beginning on this date.
Friday February 13, 2026 5:00 pm. Last day to file for a place on the general election ballot
Thursday April 2, 2026. Last day to register to vote for the general/special election
Saturday May 2, 2026 General and Special Election
Please note:
This year Bayou Vista will have a special election measure to vote to reauthorize the local sales and use tax in the city at the rate of ΒΌ of one percent to continue providing revenue for maintenance and repair of municipal streets.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS ( Election Code 141.001)
Must be a United States Citizen
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must not have been convicted of a felony
Must have resided in the State of Texas for 12 months prior to the filing deadline
Must have resided in the City of Bayou Vista for 6 months prior to the filing deadline
Must be a registered voter in the City of Bayou Vista
