Description
❄️ Snow & Ice Removal Reminder

To keep our sidewalks safe and accessible this winter, all property owners, tenants, and occupants are required to:

- Clear sidewalks within 24 hours after snow or ice has stopped falling.

- Remove snow and ice along the full length of your property, including corner lots (front, side, and rear sidewalks).
- Apply salt or de-icing materials as needed to prevent slippery conditions.*
--> *If the sidewalk next to your property was replaced this year, do not use products containing salt (chloride), magnesium chloride (Mag), or sodium chloride. These chemicals react with concrete and cause new sidewalks to scale and delaminate. 👉 Anything with chloride is harmful to fresh concrete. ✅ Instead, please use kitty litter, sand, or barn grip to safely de-ice sidewalks.

- Do not deposit snow into streets, alleys, or public rights-of-way, as this creates hazards for vehicles and pedestrians.

- If sidewalks are not cleared in time, the Borough may arrange removal and charge the property owner for costs plus an additional fee.

Thank you for helping us maintain safe, ADA-compliant sidewalks for all residents and visitors.

⚠️ Risks & Enforcement
- Violation notices may be issued if sidewalks are not cleared promptly.
- Boroughs may bill property owners/tenants for removal costs plus penalties.
- Failure to comply can lead to fines or liability if someone is injured due to unsafe conditions.

✅ Tips for Residents
- Shovel early to prevent packed ice.

- Use pet-safe salt where possible. --> *If the sidewalk next to your property was replaced this year, do not use products containing salt (chloride), magnesium chloride (Mag), or sodium chloride. - Check on neighbors who may need assistance.
- Keep curb ramps and crosswalks clear for ADA accessibility.
