Overview
The City of Bayou Vista, Texas is seeking Requests for Qualifications (RFQ) for a part-time Municipal Court Judge.
The selected candidate will preside over all municipal court proceedings, including all docket calls, hearings, trials and all matters before the court pertaining to Class C Misdemeanor violations in the City of Bayou Vista. The Judge will issue and sign subpoenas, warrants, capias, capias pro fines, judgments, orders and other related administrative paperwork prepared by municipal court staff.
The City of Bayou Vista Municipal Court is held on the first Tuesday of each month beginning at 3:30 pm. The Judge will normally spend 1-2 hours at the court each month.
Newly appointed Municipal Court Judges must attend a Texas Municipal Education Center (TMCEC) New Judges Conference within the first year of appointment. For all attorney judges and non-attorney judges who have previously completed the new judges conference, you must attend a regional TMCEC Regional Judges Conference annually.

5. If applicable, a list of Municipal Court(s) where employed with a contact name and number of staff member associated with the Court’s operations.

Respondent represents and warrants to the City of Bayou Vista that all information provided in the response shall be true, correct and complete.

Deliverables
One (1) original and seven (7) copies of the SOQ shall be provided for review in a sealed envelope and clearly marked RFQ-Municipal Court Judge and delivered to Lillian Salinas, City Secretary, 2929 Hwy 6, Ste 100, Bayou Vista, TX 77563, no later than 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Submissions received after this time will be returned unopened.
