Description
Tarentum is expected to see very cold temperatures over the next several days, with overnight lows dropping into the teens. These conditions increase the risk of frozen pipes, both in homes and across the Borough’s water system.

How to Protect Your Pipes

Please take a few simple steps to prevent freezing:
--Let faucets drip slowly, especially on exterior walls.
--Open cabinet doors under sinks to let warm air reach pipes.
--Check cold areas like basements, crawlspaces, and unheated rooms.
--Keep indoor heat consistent to avoid big temperature drops at night.
--Disconnect hoses and cover exterior spigots.
--Know where your main shutoff valve is in case a line bursts.

Watch for Water Main Issues

Extreme cold can also cause Borough water mains to freeze or break. Please report:
--Water bubbling from the ground
--Sudden low pressure
--Ice forming in unusual locations
--Sinkholes or soft ground

Report issues immediately by calling 724-224-1818 or using our online reporting tool.
