...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
MONDAY EVENING FOR GUSTY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY AND DRY FUELS FOR
PORTIONS OF THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE AND BIG BEND...
.A strong cold front will move through the region tonight with a
very dry airmass and gusty winds in its wake for Monday
afternoon. Critically low relative humidity coupled with strong
winds and dry fuels from the ongoing drought is expected to
result in red flag conditions on Monday afternoon.
The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect from noon EST /11 AM CST/ today to
7 PM EST /6 PM CST/ this evening. The Fire Weather Watch is no
longer in effect.
* AFFECTED AREA...Fire weather zones 007, 008, 009, 010, 011,
012, 013, 014, 015, 016, 017, 018, 019, 027, 028, 029, 034,
108, 112, 114, 115, 118, 127, 128, 134, 326, and 426.
* WIND...Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts of 25 to 30
mph.
* HUMIDITY...Minimum relative humidity 20 to 27 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
