Description
Hey Bayou Vista Friends and Neighbors,
🎃 Happy Halloween! We hope to see lots of you tonight at the Trunk or Treat. Come out and take a shot at dunking yours truly! The fun kicks off at 6:00 PM in the big lot across from the fire station.
Our first-ever National Night Out was a huge success! A big thank-you to Paul Hershey with Coastal Piling & Restoration and Lee DeForke with Lee DeForke Realty for sponsoring Smoking Z’s delicious sliders. You helped make it an awesome night for everyone!
🍳 Save the date: On Tuesday, November 11th, we’ll be hosting our first Pancake Breakfast honoring our Veterans and their families. It’ll be at the Community Center starting at 9:00 AM, and we’ll be serving pancakes, sausage, orange juice, and coffee. We hope to see you there to celebrate and say thank you to our Veterans.
🚧 In the next few weeks, work will begin to clean out the ditches and culverts on Neptune. Bayside Construction won the bid for this project at a cost of $10,000. The funds will come from our drainage budget and be covered through the Mayor’s discretionary fund. Please be patient if traffic gets a little tight while the work is being done.
🛠️ I’ve also been in touch with Richard Washburn, the maintenance supervisor for TxDOT. They’ll soon be cleaning out the ditch that runs along the I-45 access road again.
🚚 A quick heads-up: in November, Council will consider a new ordinance that will restrict semi-trucks (including moving trucks) from accessing our streets. If you need one for moving, it’ll need to stage in the big parking lot, and smaller vehicles can be used to move furniture or deliveries into the neighborhood.
👮♂️ Please join me in welcoming our new Police Chief, Danny Sendejas! He was officially sworn in at our October council meeting. When you see Chief Sendejas around town, be sure to say hello and give him a warm Bayou Vista welcome.
🎄 Mark your calendars:
•Christmas Tree Lighting: Saturday, December 6th at the city lot (955 Redfish)
•Christmas Boat Parade: Saturday, December 13th.
If you’d like to be a Boat Parade Captain, contact Ash Searcy at (361) 904-2602.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone, and please watch out for all the trick-or-treaters tonight. Don’t forget to remind your friends and neighbors to sign up for Savvy Citizen — it’s the best way to stay in the loop with Bayou Vista news and events.
It’s truly an honor to serve as your Mayor.
– Mayor Danny Rambin
