Description
The Joint Municipal Steering Committee on the potential Police Regionalization held its introductory meeting on Thursday, September 4th, at Borough Hall. This first session was informal in nature and not an advertised meeting. Members introduced themselves, reviewed the task ahead, and became acquainted with some of the elements to be considered. No decisions were made; the committee simply agreed on a general workflow and a preliminary meeting schedule. The meeting recording is available for review here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsf7cEQUybU&t=3s
Going forward, meetings will be held on the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m., alternating between Borough Hall and the Township Building. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 2nd, at 5:30 p.m. at the Lawrence Park Township Building.
Future meetings will be advertised, open to the public, and will include opportunities for public comment. All sessions will also be recorded and posted for review.
Looking Forward: The committee plans to hold a series of work session meetings, draft a proposal, and present it for public input through dedicated hearings. A final report, incorporating public feedback, will then be prepared and submitted to Borough Council and the Township Commission for their consideration and further action.
