Special Marine Warning issued August 28 at 7:32PM EDT until August 28 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Cleveland OH
For the following areas...
Nearshore and Open waters from Avon Point OH to Ripley NY...
At 732 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts
were located along a line extending from 10 nm north of Ashtabula to
22 nm north of Avon Point, moving southeast at 35 knots.
HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
higher winds and suddenly higher waves.
Locations impacted include...
Geneva-On-The-Lake, Conneaut, Erie, Willowick, Fairport Harbor,
Ashtabula, and Cleveland.
Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily
overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor
immediately.
