Description

PJM, the regional electric grid operator, has issued a Maximum Generation Alert (Warning Only) due to expected high electricity demand caused by hot weather. This alert is a precautionary measure and does not indicate a power emergency.

When:

-Monday, July 28, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM
-Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM

What This Means:
This type of alert helps ensure that all available power resources are ready and on standby. It is not a power outage notice but a signal that demand will be high during these peak hours.

How You Can Help:
While no action is required, residents and businesses can voluntarily help reduce strain on the electric grid by:

-Turning off non-essential lights and appliances
-Raising thermostats a few degrees, if safely possible
-Avoiding use of large appliances (e.g., washer/dryer, dishwasher) during peak hours

Tarentum Borough’s electric team continues to monitor conditions and remains in close contact with PJM.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our system running smoothly during extreme heat.
