Description
Dear Residents,

This is a reminder that hydrant flushing is still taking place in certain parts of town on Mondays. This routine maintenance is essential for maintaining water quality and system performance.

As previously announced, automatic hydrant flushers have arrived and are currently being installed over the next few weeks. These devices will allow for more consistent water circulation throughout the system and are a key part of our long-term water quality improvement strategy.

Additionally, a notice will be included in upcoming utility bills regarding a third violation of TTHM (Total Trihalomethanes) levels, which occurred during the last quarter, prior to the arrival of the new flushing equipment. While this notice is required by law, we want to assure you that the Borough has been taking proactive steps since the first violation was identified.

We are still awaiting approval from the PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to relocate a chemical injection point in the system, which is expected to further help in reducing TTHM levels. Unfortunately, until we receive this permit and complete the necessary work, it is possible that additional violations may occur.

Please know that the Borough takes these matters seriously. We began planning and implementing corrective actions months ago. However, changes to public water systems must proceed cautiously and in full compliance with DEP regulations to ensure safety for all residents.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work on improving the system.
