Good Morning, Bayou Vista!
1. The repairs and maintenance to our roads is an on-going project. The Council approved the road repair budget for 2024-2025, to continue this strategic road maintenance/repair plan. The unusually cold weather has impeded our progress, but not the mission.
2. Our road contractor will be placing a 20 MPH speed limit "stencil" on our roads. Three (3) "stencils" along Neptune and at least one (1)"stencil" at the entrance of each residential street will be placed to help remind all delivery drivers, contracted service providers and residents to maintain the 20 mph within the City of Bayou Vista - especially on the residential streets.
3. The City Council approved the purchase of a natural gas generator for the Community Center with an annual maintenance agreement. Installation will be occurring in the next few weeks.
4. The additional playground equipment purchased through the American Rescue Plan Act ("ARPA) will be installed by mid-March. The swings will also be repaired/replaced at that time.
5. The Bayou Vista Entrance sign also purchased with ARPA funds is currently being constructed with the installation to occur by mid-March.
6. We have surveyed the City and reported all streetlights that are not functioning properly. Also, AT&T has been contacted to repair/replace all their utility cans that are damaged, etc. Of course we would like to see this happen immediately, but we have been scheduled for this maintenance.
