Description
Dear Residents,
With the extreme cold temperatures this week, we want to remind everyone to take precautions to prevent your water meter and pipes from freezing. Frozen meters mean no water for your home, and you may be charged for a service call and a replacement meter.
Here’s how you can protect your water meter and pipes:
• Check Uninsulated Spaces: If your meter is located in a frigid or uninsulated area (like a basement, crawl space, or utility room), it is especially at risk.
• Add Insulation: Use insulation materials or even blankets to cover exposed pipes and meters.
• Keep a Small Drip: Allowing a small trickle of water to flow can prevent freezing.
• Seal Drafts: Close windows, doors, and any drafts near your water meter or pipes.
We’ve already received several calls about frozen meters and pipes, so please act now to avoid interruptions to your water service and unnecessary costs.
Stay warm and safe!
