Description
- Borough property owners are required to remove or cause to be removed all snow and ice from the entire length and width of the sidewalk within 24 hours of the cessation of any snow sleet, or freezing rain event.
If snow or ice has become so hard that it cannot be removed without damaging the sidewalk, the property owner must put enough sand or another abrasive on the sidewalk to make foot travel reasonably safe. Failure to comply will result in a $100 fine per event.
- DO NOT use salt on new sidewalks installed within the last year. Please use kitty litter, sand, or barn grip.
- DO NOT shovel snow or ice into the street. Shoveling, plowing, or depositing snow or ice into any street after the street has been plowed, or against any fire hydrant, is strictly prohibited and will result in fines.
- Check on your elderly neighbors.
