Description
This is Republic Services, your trash and recycling collector, calling with an informational update concerning recycling collection. As the way we live has been changing the past few years, it may seem as though more recyclable material is coming into your home. For example, online ordering and home delivery of our goods, groceries, and even fast food has become very prevalent. Though some materials state they are recyclable, this may not be the case. Cardboard delivery boxes themselves can be broken down for recycling but, the packing materials inside such as peanuts, bubble wrap, and large Styrofoam pieces are NOT recyclable. Pizza boxes that have grease or food particles on them are NOT recyclable. Plastic bags, whether they are grocery-store style, clothing packaging, or trash bag style, are NOT recyclable. Styrofoam food containers and plastic food containers that have food remnants are NOT recyclable. Also we have seen an uptick in scrap metal items being placed in recycling containers. When not caught and separated out at the recycling center, items such as brake pads and shoes, brass casings and metal tool items cause costly damage to the equipment, halt the sorting process, and cause material to be redirected to the landfill. So what can be recycled? Clean cardboard, junk mail, and empty, clean and dry plastic bottles and jugs with the number 1 or 2 on the bottom, and empty, clean and dry aluminum or tin cans are all great items that should be placed loose in your recycling container. No scrap metal of any kind should ever be placed into your recycling container. At republic services, we take environmental responsibility seriously and need your help to ensure the success and sustainability of recycling initiatives. Thank you for your time, and for being our customer.
