Snow Squall Warning issued February 17 at 4:44PM EST until February 17 at 5:30PM EST by NWS Mount Holly NJ

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a

* Snow Squall Warning for...
Northern Warren County in northwestern New Jersey...
North central Lehigh County in eastern Pennsylvania...
Carbon County in northeastern Pennsylvania...
Monroe County in northeastern Pennsylvania...
Northampton County in eastern Pennsylvania...

* Until 530 PM EST.

* At 443 PM EST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line
extending from Paradise Valley to near Nesquehoning, moving
southeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Flash freeze on roads. Intense bursts of heavy snow and
gusty winds leading to blowing snow and visibility
rapidly falling to less than one-quarter mile. Wind gusts
up to 35 mph.

SOURCE...Radar and webcams.

IMPACT...Dangerous and life-threatening travel conditions are
expected to develop rapidly in the warning area.

This includes the following highways...
Northeast Extension between mile markers 65 and 97.
Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 277 and 314.
Interstate 80 in New Jersey between mile markers 0 and 21.
Interstate 380 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 0 and 8.

Locations impacted include...
Lehighton, Mount Pocono, Northampton, East Stroudsburg, Tobyhanna,
Blairstown, Nazareth, Palmerton, Bangor, Jim Thorpe, Slatington, Pen
Argyl, Nesquehoning, Wind Gap, Bath, Belvidere, Weatherly,
Walnutport, Hope, and Belfast.

Wet roadways will quickly freeze. Black ice will cause roads,
bridges, and overpasses to become slick and dangerous. Slow down and
be prepared for a sudden loss of traction.

Reduce speed and turn on headlights! During snow squalls, the
visibility may suddenly drop to near zero in whiteout conditions.

Consider avoiding or delaying travel until the snow squall passes
your location. If you must travel, use extra caution and allow extra
time. Rapid changes in visibility and slick road conditions may lead
to accidents.
