Snow Squall Warning issued January 14 at 7:30AM EST until January 14 at 7:45AM EST by NWS Pittsburgh PA
At 729 AM EST, a hazardous snow squall was located along a line
extending from 7 miles southeast of Black Lick to near Scottdale to
near Fairdale, moving east at 35 mph.
HAZARD...Intense bursts of heavy snow. Gusty winds leading to
blowing snow and rapidly falling visibility. Wind gusts
greater than 35 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous
within minutes.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 70 in Pennsylvania near mile marker 57.
Pennsylvania Turnpike between mile markers 76 and 99.
Interstate 79 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 10 and 13.
Locations impacted include...
Uniontown, Latrobe, Connellsville, Mount Pleasant, Scottdale,
Masontown, McChesneytown-Loyalhanna, Youngwood, Derry, Lawson
Heights, Brownsville, New Stanton, South Connellsville, Perryopolis,
Ligonier, Fairdale, Jefferson Boro, Seven Springs, Fairchance, and
Calumet-Norvelt.
Slow Down! Rapid changes in visibility and road conditions are
expected with this dangerous snow squall. Be alert for sudden
whiteout conditions.
Reduce speed and turn on headlights! During snow squalls, the
visibility may suddenly drop to near zero in whiteout conditions.
