Beaver dams aren't just essential for beavers—they're also a vital part of the local ecology!
Children, ages 5-12, are invited to join South Park Library for this Allegheny County Park Ranger Program, where we'll dive into the fascinating world of beavers and their impact on the environment. Beavers are second only to humans when it comes to shaping the landscapes they inhabit. Discover their habitats, learn how they construct dams and lodges, and explore both the positive and negative effects they have on their surroundings.
Participants will even get hands-on as they create their very own "beaver dam" to see if it can hold back water as effectively as the real thing!
This program will take place at the Home Economics Building in the Allegheny County Park, located at 2050 Buffalo Drive South Park, PA 15129.
