Due to the upcoming excessive heat everyone should be preparing for this over the next week. Heat index will be in the upper 90's to low 100 degrees. With this you should prepare for power outages. Duquesne Light is adding additional shifts during this time period. But unfortunately, local residential homes are low on their priority list. Everyone should have the following items if you end up losing power. Have ice, flashlights, extra batteries, and cell phones fully charged. Do not keep opening your refrigerator doors. If you have a full freezer the food will keep frozen for anywhere from 38 to 42 hours. We will be monitoring this event closely. Try to stay indoor out of the sun as much as possible. If you have any problems, please contact 911. We will possibly be opening cooling centers as need.
