Join us at Mohn Street Park this Sunday, May 19 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM for our 2024 Community Garden Kickoff event! You can select your garden bed, plant your first crops, sow seeds, and start growing! You will receive helpful tips from Jann Shanaman, our Penn State Extension Master Gardener. Jann will have a table set up to answer any questions you may have and hand out helpful gardening information.
Be sure to bring the family too! Local children’s author Floyd Stokes will be holding a reading of his book, The Community Garden, at 10:00 AM. He will be giving away FREE Dutch Wonderland tickets and copies of his book to the first 20 children in attendance, so be sure to arrive early. Kids can also enjoy Whitaker on Wheels, the mobile STEAM activity truck from the Whitaker Center. They will be attending to provide custom garden stations for the children.
So come out to Mohn Street Park this Sunday at 9:00 AM to meet your fellow gardeners, enjoy the nice weather, and start growing together with us!

P.S. We are looking for residents interested in joining our Community Garden Committee. This resident-led committee will help oversee and manage community garden activities with a team of elected officials, Borough staff members, and volunteers. Please reply to this message If you are interested in joining the Community Garden Committee or volunteering to help water the garden until our irrigation system is up and running. We are currently in the process of purchasing a drip irrigation system for the garden, but we will need to establish a watering schedule/team until the system is installed.
