The Dallastown Water Authority is required by DEP to flush out our water system 1 time a year. This is called Hydrant Flushing.

This is an APPROXIMATE DATE!!

While we are flushing out the water system, many people may experience little to no water pressure if we're in your area. In addition, you may experience slightly discolored water due to the minerals being washed off the bottom of the pipe. These minerals are not harmful, however, it's appearance will deter you from drinking it. It is recommended to not wash dishes or laundry until you run some water from an outside spigot to clear any discoloration in the water.

This process could take 3 to 4 weeks depending on the weather. Updates will be provided as Flushing begins so you have a better idea of what area we are flushing the hydrants.
