YORK, Pa. –York County today announced updated details of its planned Independence Day Celebration to mark America’s 250th birthday.

The Independence Day Celebration will include numerous events throughout the day on Saturday, July 4, beginning with a free “History Made Here Cultural Fair” from 9 a.m. to noon at the York County Heritage Rail Trail Parking Lot on Pershing Avenue in York, near the York County History Center.

The family-friendly Cultural Fair, in partnership with Explore York, will feature local organizations, interactive experiences, live demonstrations, heritage displays, and community partners that showcase the people, traditions and innovations that continue to shape our region. Also at the event, Explore York will sponsor free Maple Donuts for the first 250 attendees. Free bottled water will also be available, while supplies last, courtesy of Jack Giambalvo Buick GMC.

At noon, there will be a ceremonial “Bells Across York County” bell-ringing before a brief formal Independence Day ceremony to be held at York County History Center.

The celebration will continue at 4 p.m. at WellSpan Park for pre-game festivities and an in-field “Parade of Veterans” before the kickoff of the York Revolution vs. Lancaster Stormers baseball game. Following the game, there will be live music from the York Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and a fireworks display at dusk to wrap up the celebration.
