Details
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a hands‑on cultural craft kit designed especially for Tweens and Teens!

This year’s kit features Huichol Yarn Weaving, a vibrant traditional art form created by the Indigenous Huichol (Wixárika) people of Central Mexico. Using colorful yarn and crossed sticks, artists weave geometric designs that reflect their deep connection to nature, community, and storytelling.

Each kit includes a brief history of Cinco de Mayo, background on Huichol culture and yarn weaving traditions, all materials needed to create your own woven design, and a package of delicious Mexican Vanilla Chocolate Chip Cookies to enjoy while you craft.

Discover the beauty and meaning behind this traditional weaving technique and create a colorful piece of art from the comfort of home!

Kits will be available for pickup starting May 2nd and can be collected throughout the month. Online Registration is required at https://southpark.librarycalendar.com/event/tween-teen-take-home-kit-huichol-yarn-weaving-cultural-craft-13636 and will remain open until all kits are reserved.
