BOROUGH HALL: 414 S. YORK ROAD, HATBORO, PA 19040

On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, many residents attended the Borough Council Meeting and expressed concerns regarding the West Monument Avenue Bridge and additional traffic in the area due to Montgomery County’s ongoing West Moreland Avenue Bridge closure.

During this meeting, Borough Council also discussed the grant for the West Monument Bridge Project; however, many of the residents that attended the meeting to discuss concerns about West Monument Avenue left before Borough Council began this discussion.

The Multimodal Transportation Grant obtained for the West Monument Bridge Project expires on August 21, 2026. If the Borough would like to proceed with this grant, the Borough must apply for an extension no later than May 23, 2026.

As a result, the Borough is holding this Town Hall on April 1, 2026 to discuss the bridge and obtain feedback from residents prior to making a decision on whether to proceed with the grant. Please note, this is not a formal Council Meeting and only 3 Councilpersons will be present to hear residents’ concerns. This meeting is for informational purposes only and Borough Council will be formally discussing the grant extension at their April 27, 2026 Council Meeting. We encourage residents to attend both the Town Hall and the April 27th meeting when the grant is form.

This Multimodal Transportation Grant will require the Borough to demolish the existing wooden bridge and install a much larger, PennDOT compliant bridge. The larger bridge would allow much larger, heavier vehicles to travel through the area than the current bridge allows. When this grant was originally obtained, many residents in the area were concerned about the possibility of additional truck traffic and were not in favor of a larger bridge being constructed on West Monument Avenue. The current bridge is also in good structural condition and was not/has not been in immediate need of replacement. As a result, the Borough has not proceeded with this grant to date.

This Town Hall is open to all residents throughout Hatboro and is not limited to the residents living near West Monument Avenue. If you have any questions or concerns prior to this Town Hall meeting, please call Borough Hall at 215-443-9100.
