A Message Regarding Borough Facebook Posts and Public Engagement
We have received a few questions regarding Borough Facebook posts and why comments are not enabled on our page.
The Borough's Facebook page is managed by Borough staff and is intended to serve as an informational tool to share news, updates, meeting information, public safety notices, project updates, and community events. Residents and followers who have questions, concerns, or requests for information are encouraged to contact Borough staff directly by email or phone or to reach out to their elected Borough Council representatives.
Many questions raised on social media involve policy decisions, legislative matters, or other issues that fall under the authority of Borough Council. In those cases, residents are encouraged to contact their elected officials directly and to attend Borough Council meetings where public comment and discussion are welcomed.
It is important to note that when Borough staff provide information through Facebook or other communication platforms, they are sharing administrative information and are not speaking on behalf of individual elected officials or Borough Council as a governing body.
Under Pennsylvania law, Borough Council conducts official Borough business at properly advertised public meetings. These meetings provide an open and transparent forum for discussion, deliberation, and decision-making on matters affecting the community.
Borough Council members are always willing to engage with constituents through:
Public Council meetings
Committee meetings and workshops
Email correspondence
Telephone conversations
Office hours when offered
Community events and activities throughout the Borough
The Borough encourages residents to remain engaged, ask questions, attend meetings, and communicate directly with both staff and elected officials. Open communication and civic participation help ensure a strong and informed community.
