Description
CHANGES WITH THIS UPDATE
- Isaias is now at 110 mph, up from 80 mph in yesterday’s briefing. This update uses the corrected 7 a.m. Central / 8 a.m. Eastern Advisory 11A issued October 9.
- The center track is little changed. Landfall is expected tonight or early Saturday, and preparations in hurricane and surge warning areas should be completed within the next few hours.
- The 4 a.m. forecast raises today’s peak to 120 mph. Some weakening before landfall is expected, but that depends on the timing of wind shear. A delay could bring a stronger hurricane ashore.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YANKEETOWN
Coastal Levy remains under a Storm Surge Watch, with 2-4 feet possible in surge-prone areas through Saturday morning. Local winds remain below tropical storm force. The storm’s center remains west of the community, but that does not remove the coastal flood risk.

Our provisional assessment remains SAVCON 3, Prepare. Protect flood-prone assets, confirm staffing and contacts, and check drainage, access and response plans.

SAVCON is our proprietary local readiness scale, based on the likelihood and severity of impacts. It is not a hurricane category or an evacuation order. The attached report explains all five levels and includes the current track, watches and warnings, corrected peak surge graphic, tropical outlook and rainfall map.

The rainfall map covers October 9-14. Current local forecasts are distinguished from the broader regional rainfall corridor. A verified local seven-day curve and recent observed rainfall total were unavailable, so older totals are not carried forward. Surge ranges are conditional heights above normally dry ground somewhere within coastal segments, not guaranteed property depths.

We are monitoring the situation and prepared to mobilize immediately once conditions warrant. Please call if you have questions or concerns, or let us know of any immediate needs, flooding, damage or access issues so we can coordinate support.
