Description
The Town of Porter is participating in the State of Indiana's debris removal mission following the severe storms of August 11. Porter County is among 11 counties approved under the federal Major Disaster Declaration.

📅 Cleanup Schedule

Friday, October 9 – Sunday, October 11:
Two bucket trucks will travel throughout Town removing eligible leaning trees and hanging limbs that pose a public safety hazard. Debris from this work will be left in the public right-of-way for collection.

Next Week – Start Date to Be Announced:
A grapple truck will begin collecting storm-related vegetative debris from public rights-of-way throughout Town. We will provide an update once the start date is confirmed.

⚠️ Residents: Please Move Storm Debris to the Right-of-Way
To help crews complete collection safely and efficiently, please follow these guidelines:

• Vegetation ONLY. No grass clippings, bags, or nonvegetative materials.
• Contractors cannot enter private property. All eligible debris must be placed in the public right-of-way.
• Keep piles accessible. Do not place debris near fire hydrants, mailboxes, or other obstructions.
• Avoid power lines. Never place debris on or near power lines or on another person's private property.

About the Cleanup:
The State will initially pay the contractors, with eligible costs shared as follows: 75% – FEMA; 18.75% – State of Indiana; and 6.25% – Town of Porter.
• Debris Removal Contractor: SDR
• Monitoring Contractor: DebrisTech

We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as we complete this final phase of storm cleanup throughout Porter.
