Flood Watch issued September 24 at 1:36AM MDT until September 25 at 6:00AM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...A portion of east central New Mexico, including the
following counties, Curry County, Quay County and Roosevelt County.
* WHEN...Through late tonight.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Rounds of showers and storms will continue through Thursday
night. Rainfall rates up to 2 inches per hour will have the
potential to produce rapid runoff, especially during the
afternoon and evening hours Thursday. Soils are becoming
increasingly saturated from persistent rainfall over the past
couple of days, further elevating the risk of flash flooding.
Rainfall amounts will generally range from 1 to 2 inches, with
isolated totals up to 3 inches.
- Rapid runoff and flash flooding will be most likely in complex
terrain, below recent burn scars, low-lying areas, urban areas,
normally dry arroyos, near rivers and streams, and in locations
where the ground is already saturated from recent heavy rainfall.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued. Never drive through flood
waters. Most flash flood deaths occur in automobiles.
